Outstanding wrought iron and brass wood drill. Spring loaded bit release. Wrought shaft. Heavy cast iron handle. No bits. Remains of initials on hand cut brass cap screw. The earliest example of this type of saw I have ever owned. Outstanding surface patina on this rare tool.
Date: 1780-1820.
Size: 12 1/4″ long. 5 1/2″ wide.
Condition: Overall very good for this type of object. Old dent to brass ferrule. The handle and ferrule have about 1/8″ of play due to a missing screw.
