Exceptional folk art figural letter opener.  Dated and signed, “1906” and “E.A.B.”  Well formed from a single piece of walnut (a difficult wood to carve). Fantastic rendition of a Black man’s head with over exaggerated features. The collar is a nice added touch. Outstanding original surface.

Size: 11 1/4″ long. Head is 4″  x  1 1/2″  x  1 1/2″.

Condition: Overall excellent with expected aging. Some wear at tip on back.
