Folk Art Caboose
H138
Superb massive folk art toy caboose. Made from cigar boxes, wood, tin, metal wire and glass. Fantastic original paint and patina. Interior is well apportioned with painted table, benches, bunks, cabinets, etc. “AXTEL LINE” painted on both sides.
Likely either Axtel, Ohio or Axtel, Kentucky. Likely made by a railroad worker for his son. Heavy wear to wheels indicates many years of play and use. This considered, it is in a remarkable state of preservation. Such a cool and unusual object.
