Primitive tin toy rattle. Decorative design on drum. Holes in handle, which once functioned as a whistle. Nice old surface. Still rattles well. Fun old country example.

 

Date: Last quarter of the 19th century.

Condition: Expected surface rust. End is slightly crushed, with some bend to handle – this clearly happened a long time ago.
