Excellent ship’s gimbaled brass whale oil lamp. Solid turned brass finger lamp. Hinged lid. Hand cut threaded screw. Designed to remain level despite the motion of the waves. Great honest heavy base wear. A wonderful  piece of early nautical lighting. An identical example sold at a Skinner Americana Auction (lot 450) in Aug. 2013 for $369.
