Detailed molded figural redware pottery tobacco pipe. French. Original enamel painted highlights. “JE SUIS LE VRAI JACOB” on the turban. This translates to “I AM THE TRUE JACOB.” Marked on both sides, “JACOB.” Also marked, “PARIS 998” and “GAMBIER,” who was the maker. A fantastic colorful example.
Date: 1860 – 1880
Size: 1 3/4″ long. 2 3/8″ tall.
Condition: Few minor rim flakes and a chip at the stem hole.
