Way cool folk art book rack (bookends, book stand) with a patriotic theme. Excellent mellow surface patina. Pyrographic (wood burned using a type of small heated tool) design with a pair of US flag with 13 stars at each end. Awesome original paint. One side rail reads, “O’ LONG MAY IT WAVE” The other side reads, “OER THE LAND OF THE FREE.” Inscribed on base plate, “Uncle Henry Bogert,” who was either the maker or the recipient of this fun home made piece. The ends are hinged to fold. There is a functional track that allows for expansion. The stops on the bottom are recycled ends from an old cigar box. All in all, a wonderfully crafted object that just oozes with personality.
