Excavated Civil War Redware Devil Pipe

Great looking molded redware figural devil head tobacco pipe. Legally excavated from a Civil War camp site in NW Arkansas, and found together with other artifacts and several other clay pipes. Traces of original enamel paint on horns. The eyes were purposely scratched out at the time of use. Perhaps those staring orbs were a bit too real for the owner? Pattern number marked on side.



Date: 1860s.


Size: 2 1/2″  x  1 1/2″  x  2 1/2″ tall.


Condition: Excavated condition with expected wear. Few old rim chips to bowl. Mentioned losses to enamel paint. As-Is. Please use photos and description to determine condition.
