Wonderful folk art whimsy depicting a convict with a couple of chain links. Excellent original painted surface. This is an extremely unusual theme for a carved whimsy. Made from a single piece of pine. Likely the work of an inmate. A really fun piece.

 

Date: 1900-1920’s.

Condition: Expected aging and wear. Old breaks to links have been reglued.
