Distinctive wrought iron ember carrier. Well crafted bit of iron work. Lid remains fully functional, and tight as the day it was made, centuries ago. Original primitive wood handle shows wear and burns from years of heavy service. A nice intact example of American 18th century blacksmithing. I really like this piece. Discovered at a farm sale in NE Kansas.
Date: 1740-1780.
Size: About 36″ long x 6″ wide. Trigger is 5″ tall if box is pressed flat on a surface. Weighs 3.5lbs.
Condition: Overall excellent. Expected aging and wear. Few minor pinholes at one end of box (see photo). Please use photos and description to determine condition.
