18C Table Chest



Nice all original Revolutionary War period colonial covered small chest. Found in a New England barn. Hand hewn pine body with wrought square nail construction. The chest displays faint remnants of a hide cover, traces of which can be seen on the end of the lid on one side (see photo). After years of heavy use, the fur has worn away to bare leather. Brass tacks. Brass bail handle. Wrought iron sliding cover lock and latch – no key. Grey paper liner. Fantastic old surface patina. An amazing artifact in perfect untouched as found condition.
