A singular piece of early advertising produced in the Reconstruction South following the Civil War. Walnut frame. Square nails. Superb untouched mellow patina. Profusely stamped on all 8 sides. “SMITH & JENKINS/ DRY GOODS & CLOTHING/ HATS CAPS SHOES & c/ GAINESVILLE, GA” and “GROCERIES/ STOVES TIN & HARDWARE/ FURNITURE HARNESS & c/ WAGON MATERIALS.” In all my years of collecting and searching this is the first of its type I have encountered. A sweet little example, somewhere in the range of 130-150 years old.
