Great looking folk art advertising banner. Hand painted on linen cloth. “POSTAGE STAMPS FOR SALE” with  a letter bag marked “USM” (United States Mail) and several stamped envelopes spilling out. The top letter reads, “John Doe/ C….N.Y.” Singed by artist at lower right, “HAVENS.” Discovered in an old country store in Upstate New York.  Presented in a new frame.

 

Date: Late 19th century.

 

Size: Banner measures 22″  x  5″.  Frame measures 25 1/4′  x  7 1/4″.

 

Condition:  Expected aging with some staining and minor paint loss.
