Distinctive folk art wood plane. Appears to be maple. The nicely beveled wedge (to hold blade in place) is quarter sawn oak. No blade. Geometric chip carved pattern on one side and in two bands going around the body. Dated 1813 with initials. Dovetailed slot was for a removable handle – long gone. This is a remarkable two century old survivor. Not too many of these around.

Date: 1813.

Size: 8 3/4″ long. 1 3/4″ wide. 2 1/2″ tall to wedge.

Condition: Expected aging and wear. Old dormant wood beetle holes. Minor loss to rim on design side. No blade or handle as noted above. Please use photos and description to determine condition.
